What Parents Will Learn

Hear it from the expert and discover how Protein and Probiotics play a very important role in your child’s growth, digestion, gut health, and immune system function.

Breast milk is the best source of nutrition for babies, especially in the first six months. It contains key nutrients like Protein, DHA, ARA, and beneficial bacteria, which support growth, brain development, digestion, gut health, and immune function.

Key takeaways:

  • Protein is a key building block for a baby’s growth and development, but in infancy, the right quality and quantity matter.
  • Breast milk contains two main proteins: whey and casein in the ratio of 72:28.
  • In the early months, it has a higher proportion of whey, which is easier for a baby’s developing digestive system to digest.
  • Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that support gut health, which is closely linked with digestion and immune system function.
  • All nutrients matter, but quality protein and probiotics for gut health are especially important in early infancy.

A lot of times, parents of newborns ask me, “Doctor I don’t know what’s the right nutrition for my baby, I read one thing, my relatives tell me something else. What exactly should I look for to support my child’s healthy growth?

As we know, mother’s milk is the best for your baby, as it has the right balance of all nutrients which makes it so unique . Be it protein, DHA, ARA or probiotics, mother’s milk has everything needed for your baby’s overall health, be it physical growth, brain development, healthy gut and immune system function. Breastfeeding your baby, is the best thing you can do for their health.

Now, when we talk about your baby’s nutrition, there are many things to consider but let’s start by talking about these 2 things:

Protein and Probiotics

Let’s talk about Protein first. Protein is a fundamental nutrient that helps in growth and development.

You may have heard about Whey protein, especially for people who are into fitness, but did you know that protein is extremely important in case of babies as well? In Mother’s milk, the protein quality and quantity is exactly what the baby needs, there are two kinds of protein in breastmilk, Whey and Casein, and their ratio is around 72:28 in the early months, i.e. higher proportion of whey which is easily digested by your baby’s developing gut.

Coming to Probiotics, Probiotics are microorganisms or helpful bacteria which help in improving and supporting gut health. Mother’s milk has all the essential probiotics which help with your baby’s gut function. That’s why probiotics play a crucial role in your child’s developing months.

So, when it comes to ensuring the right progress and development of your child, all nutrients are important but some ingredients like probiotics and not too little and not too much of protein and are considered very important for the baby.

And before feeding anything to your infant, always take advice of your pediatrician.
