Safety at Every Step

In the third episode of the Nestlé NANGROW Transparency Tour, Soha Ali Khan & Dr. Nihar Parekh explore the factory to witness the rigorous safety protocols that ensure a touchless journey from raw milk to the final product.

Preventing Contamination at the Gate Safety begins even before the milk enters the processing area. Every milk tanker has its tires washed upon entering the factory. This critical step ensures that dirt and bacteria from the road are kept outside, maintaining the integrity of the facility.

Precision Filling and Freshness The packaging process is designed with multiple layers of protection:

  • Metal Detection: Before the powder enters any pack, it passes through an online metal detector.
  • Preserving Freshness: Packs are filled with a food-grade inert gas. This process protects the ingredients' freshness and prevents nutrient degradation by maintaining specific oxygen levels.

Rigorous Post-Packing Checks Once a pack is filled and sealed, it undergoes a series of stringent tests to ensure safety:

  • Sieve Tests: Both online and manual tests are conducted to check for any foreign bodies.
  • Seal Integrity: Every seal is tested to ensure there are absolutely no leakages.
  • Atmospheric Testing: Packs are checked for oxygen levels, as excess oxygen can lead to bacterial growth and the loss of nutrients.

The X-Ray Check : While standard detectors catch metal, Nestlé uses X-ray technology as a final foreign object check. This ensures that any other non-metallic materials are identified and removed before the product is cleared for shipping.

The Touchless Conclusion The journey concludes with automated robotic packing, where machines stack and send the NANGROW packs to the warehouse. From the initial raw milk stage to the final carton, the complete process is entirely touchless, ensuring the product remains safe and clean for toddlers
